It's Called.....

Nothing like a week, or just over a week, to refresh the brain.  Unfortunately, it's impossible to refresh the brain with a stomach flu kicking your butt.  This has just not been my year for health.  Ah well, health is overrated.  I will be catching up on reading here this next week, I've missed you guys.

Moving on....

I get tons of spam.  Sweet tap dancing Christ, I get tons of spam.  Luckily, the filter here on blogger is pretty good and it catches 99.9% of it.  Still, getting all of those emails telling me I have spam gets old.   But I did get one comment recently from a spammer that made me quite happy.

I moderate posts two weeks old or older to help catch what the spam filter doesn't.  I logged in briefly yesterday and saw a comment awaiting my approval.  It's been a long time since I've had to moderate a comment so I was intrigued.

Seems one of the spammers accidentally chose to follow a post when he submitted his spam comment.  Since the spammers all seem to hit the same posts, usually cycling to a new old post every two or three months, he is getting all of the spam I'm getting delivered right to his email!

The fucker actually asked for my help in fixing it.  Let him enjoy my hell.

It's called karma, ya dick.  Stop spamming.

  1. I love it!!! A taste of his own medicine. I think I would be tempted not to ever fix it. Hope you feel better soon!

    1. I'm feeling much better, thanks.

I was tempted to name the post he's getting all the replies from and encourage people to spam it but then I'd be punishing myself.

    1. I won't lie, I laughed for a long while after reading of his stupidity.

  3. Wonderful response, perfect solution. What an idiot to provide you with his email address. I am surprised that Blogger does as well as it does in weeding out the spam comments, very rarely does one actually make it to my blog. Too bad Yahoo Mail can't manage the same. Glad to hear you're feeling better, hope to see more posts! :-)

    1. I wish my email had half as good a spam filter as blogger does.

  4. Haha! That's brilliant!! I just got a spam comment saying "Is it just me, or do all the people who leave comments on your post seem brain dead?" Before then asking to join his/her site. Yeah, cos insulting my readers will make me want to do that.

Glad you're feeling much better. I do miss me some Ranting Monkey. (which sounds wrong on every level) :)

It's a spamfest out in the blogosphere. 55 spam in ONE week. What the hell is going on??

    1. I get between 10 and 20 spams a day, sometimes more. I fucking hate those guys and I hope they get their genitals caught car door.

  5. ::snorts:: That's magic, that is. Great idea, moderating the older posts to manage that spam crap. Gotta start doing that...

    1. Every now and then the Karmic Gods remind me they are still out there. I love those moments.

    2. Also, I've nominated you for the Liebster Award (which you totally don't have to do, but, you know, I wanted to give you props). Come collect it here!

    3. Thank you very much. While I really do appreciate it, I have declined the award, with an explanation and a link back, in my most recent post.

  6. Love it! I have been lucky with my blog and one of my dog's blogs(don't judge me Monkey, yes my dogs blog, they are very smart and I have nothing to do with it!)but one of the dog's blog gets hit constantly, so far the filter catches it every time. But have you actually read some of that spam? It's hilarious and doesn't make one bit of sense, obviously written by foreigner's with no idea about the English language, can't they at least give these guys a script to copy and past?

    1. I have a post around here somewhere in which I highlighted a particularly poorly worded spam message I got. I don't know what translator these guys are using but it's just bad.
